Rare early English bone china pattern 1749
- This fine example of Chinese Japan inspired pattern 1749 English bone china
- Since much of the early bone china was issued unmarked it is often difficult to attribute pieces, but from the mould styling of the teacups and the footed design of the milk jug we think this is likely Davenport
- Pattern 1749 is a rich cobalt blue and orange umber hand coloured design with rich gilt bordering detail, elements of Amherst Japan, bang Up and Chinese basket will be familiar to lovers of these period pieces
- Unlike much of the pieces in these design styles, this is early English translucent bone china. Characteristic of glazes of this period there are many minute imperfections and inclusions.
- 3.75-inch diameter teacup 2-inches tall
- 5.5-inch diameter deep rimmed saucer with shallow cup well
- These pieces date from between 1820 and 1840
