Wonderful antique floral china teacup trio
A wonderful find from a recent trip to Crystal Palace is this exquisite trio by Thomas Morris in the stunning orange and white floral transfer design called Denmark.
The porcelain is absolutely typical of the high quality lines produced by the factory around this period. They would go on the produce New Chelsea before eventually merging into the Royal Vale and Colclough production plants.
The early factory stamp is an interesting one, and a challenge for most to identify as its not seen very often. The recumbent lion on a plinth sits above a very stylised scroll like letter M astride a capital T the end result is more Greek symbol than manufacturers initials, but once you've seen it, there is no mistaking it. Morris was very good and printing the pattern design on these early pieces.
The cups a re a good size, triple espresso at least and could double as small teacups, but I expect these will end up as collectors display pieces as they are absolutely stunning.
